I am incredibly tired of hearing daily, about the coming onslaught of 'global warming' otherwise known as the more inclusive of all problems related to weather, dubbed as 'climate change'.
First to clear the path from where I'm coming from, I dont' have a problem if this basic theory of global warming goes on to promote more efficient products and more inventive and useful technologies, that's great, frankly anything that can safely spur the advancement of the human race I am all for, after all I'm a very technical person, so I'm always fascinated and astounded at many of the things scientists, researchers and engineers across the world are developing month to month. I do not personally have any issues with taking care of our environments, nobody wants to live in filth, myself included. Furthermore, I do not nor can anyone else dispute the fact that the climate does change. Now that you have some idea where I'm coming from.
You might be wondering, why would I call global warming a myth, if I just in fact agreed that the climate changes? This is simple. EVERYTHING changes. There is something called time, as time passes, everything changes, day to day, hour to hour, minute to minute, second to second and so on. Yes, weather changes, as does the climate in general, every single second of every single day. So okay, the climate changes, big deal. The myth, is pinned on the concept, correct me if I'm wrong:
Humans are to be blamed with the earth's rising temperatures, due to the pollution they create combined with the greenhouse effect and the extravagant consumerism that takes place in the wealthy, technologically advanced and oftentimes democratic nations of the world. The end-game scenario in this current situation is that the seas will raise as the polar caps melt and that the increase in heat will cause droughts and disease to spread all over the place, basically people suffer and die.
This is where I disagree. People love to destroy the earth by [insert end-of-world disaster here] and obsessing over the resulting calamity and strife that will strike us all. It's entertainment certaintly but I think there's also an outright 'want' by some people to actually experience and be part of the so called 'end times', which is frankly, bizarre. Regardless, global warming or climate change is the first theortical end of the world scenario, that I'm aware of anyway, thats somehow managed to directly affect everyone. What I mean, is, this is one of the first situations where humans are to blame and it's our job to fix the problem, through a deafening amount of programs, taxes, policies, red-tape, etc, in an attempt to stem the inevitable.
Where I have a serious problem with this theory is when you put it in perspective with a ton other movements that have been taking place for decades, upon which global warming ultimately stems. I call this as a whole, the ecological movement, which I honesly think started out just fine and for quite a while had a good purpose and in certain circumstances and applications definitly continues to do good. However, just like terrorists managed to hijack a religion I think groups of concentrated fanatical ecologists hijacked the ecologist movement for their own purposes (I am not trying to equate these fanatics with being murdering terrorists either, just expressing that similarity, not completely anyway, there are instances of outright evil acts being perpetrated by fanatical ecologists). The result is basically global warming. I'll try to explain.
Global warming exists on this pretty basic principle which everyone can understand, that of the greenhouse effect. We've all seen this, you leave a car out in the parking lot while you shop, it warms up and you come out and your car is stiflingly hot when you get in, many times you've just let the hot air out by leaving your door open for a few moment before getting in. Clearly, something happened where the area of space in your car got way hotter than it was outside, what happened? Well without going into earth sciences here, the car warmed off due to an increase of heat coming in, and the inability for it to escape as quickly as it was entering, so it just got a lot hotter. I'm not an earth sciences person, I can't explain it accurately but I have seen it and I generally understand it, this is the case for most everyone else. This is the core idea of global warming. The idea is we have this thing called the ozone, which is a layer of the atmosphere whose job is to protect us from the damaging effects of the sunlight. However, science back in the 80's and 90's, showed us that there are holes in the ozone, and this was blamed on various household containers that relied on compressed something or other to make it work (shaving cream, cleaners, etc). So the government stepped in and enacted a bunch of laws banning these devices that relied on gasses and chemical compounds that were known to hurt the ozone. Next, we find, well actually, carbone dioxide helps to accelerate this warming process, or hurt the ozone, or whatever the case may be, now its carbon dioxide, specifically that chemical compound. The interesting thing about carbon dioxide is that it is everywhere, when humans breath, we breath in mainly oxygen, our body processes it and then when we exhale its carbon dioxide coming out, again I can't explain the process, but this is how I've heard it works for all over the place, okay. However, with plants, they actually 'breath' in carbon dioxide, and 'exhale' oxygen, as I understand it, which happens to be very convenient, you need your plant life to help sustain all the other forms of life on the planet (for the most part, some critters don't need either to survive, I think).
So, through carbon dioxide, this is how these fanatics begin to build this idea that its humans that are causing this destructino of the ozone and thus quickening pace of the warming of the earth. I haven't even yet gotten to the blame of warming placed upon pollution. Pollution used to be the big factor to the ozone depletion, factories spewing out visible soot that looks ugly and smells uglier. So again the government stepped in and started regulating companies forcing them to lower their pollution emissions by various percentages or face heavy fines etc. Great, so the companies comply or go out of business, new technologies are devised to create the same products we all want. However now, the polluter is you and I, so how on earth do you solve that problem, short of killing people or at least ensuring the human population doesn't keep increasing (Please see link #1 for an example). Apparently, the solution has become 'carbon offsets'. Now everyone has what is called a 'carbon footprint', essentially the amount of carbon dioxide, you produce since you were born, literally. Every time you breathe, the cars you drive, plane trips, boat rides, working out and excersizing (you will breathe more), even the things you purchse that will be thrown away, or produced carbon dioxide in some way to be created. Essentially, everything you do, creates carbon dioxide to some degree, can this be disputed? No, of course not, this is very true, we are carbon life forms, don't forget.
Basically carbon footprints, is another form of debt, except this one you didn't get to choose how this debt became your problem, it just is your problem. Interestingly, you'll be paying your carbon debt, with good ol' regular money. That's right! You will be offsetting or otherwise paying your debt of carbon dioxide production off, by paying money. Now... again, I'm not an expert here, but the idea is that giving somebody else (who also produces carbon dioxide) money, your carbon debt, starts to go away. I guess your essentially giving your debt to the other person, in the form of money and they will shred spend your money by creating oxygen or something, I'm really not sure, best we leave it to the experts right? If it hasn't crossed your mind at this point, this is absolutely absurd. There's this big massive world-wide problem and lo-and-behold, the solution is your hard-earned money. Through this, I conclude that this is nothing more than a very concerted effort to push blame on you and I, so that we will pony up our money so that we can feel free of this burden of carbon debt. The big kicker here is that nothing got solved, somebody just swindled you out of your money, and you smiled while they did it.
What I've loosely describe up to this point is how things came to be in this ecological movement that seems to be climaxing with global warming. Lets take a few steps back to get a better picture of what this is all really about. Originally I described the basic premise and scenario of climate change, the world is heating up, but is it? I hate to break it to you, but as easy to understand as the greenhouse effect is, the world does not work that way. We're talking about something so much bigger and far more complex than the space in the family car. Also, please dont' forget, what happens when that car that got superheated in the parking lot when the sun goes down? That's right, it cools down because the sun wasn't beating on it constantly and consistently, the world spins folks, we don't live constantly under the sun, things will cool down and heat up and cool down, thats a cycle, remember that for a moment.
Theories abound about the changing of the climate and weather patterns, wonderful, we've all known this, why is this such an issue now? The reason your supposssed to care right now is that its claimed the world is heating up, so what. I don't know if that's true or now, scientists are saying its geting cooler and others are saying its getting warmer, this leads me to believe they don't really know what the hell they are talking about, or, somebody is turning this information into something more than it is. Regardless, if the world is heating up, its not even noticeable to you and I, maybe a degree per year, but I'll bet it's not even close. The reason I say this is because these scientists and researches don't have any reliable way of knowing the truth. Many claims are based on the available weather statistics going back maybe a hundred years, give or take, which is nothing in the grand scheme of things, its just not enough historical information off which to make claims about things like global warming, yet some do.
Here's something that can't be disputed. Weather forecasters, cannot predict with any real and honest degree of accuracy, how the weather will be, more than a two or three days out in advance, we all know this, we blame the local weather folks anytime it rains at our picnic, they told one thing and in reality something else happened. So then, do you honestly believe that these very same people (the fanatics within the ranks of weather forecasters, scientists and researchers) when they claim the world is heating up and we'll all be facing major catastrophes in the couple hundred years (this has actually be reduced to the next decade or two, recently as it was clear a few hundred years doesn't quite give that sense of urgency that will entice people reach deep down in their pockets). I don't. I also don't buy it when others claim we are entering another ice age. How can I be so sure? I can't really, I'm no expert in these areas, due to that, I fall back on common sense and analyzing other periphery things taking place inconnection with the issue of global warming, which I've started to lay forth above, with carbon debts, fanatiscism, etc.
I've brought it up a little, some people say the world is warming up, some say its cooling, basically they all agree that something is happening, which is why I've noticed a move to call it as a whole, climate change, instead of global warming, if in fact its not warming up, then that would be bad for these people, you wont' reach deep down in your pockets if its not warming up, so just in case they are wrong, they will call it climate change, then nobody can say it isn't happening and hoepfully you'll be more apt to give your money. I've always found it incredibly amusing when I would hear of the latest gathering of experts to discuss global warming for the United Nations, local, state or government agencies etc. only to have it cancelled due to 'inclimate winter weather'. Seriously, that's just funny, you can't have a discussion about the world heating up, because of winter snow storms, classic!
Up to this point, its still not a pressing matter, you have to actually give your money, this comes in many forms, you can give various companies $1 or $5 etc, and they will plant a tree for you. There are also companies that you can pay to reduce or payoff your carbon debt. (Remember, this is a reocurring debt, its not like your mortgage, where as long as you pay it, you will eventually crawl out from underneath it, you'll exptected to pay your carbon debt until you die.)
This is where things take a very serious and very dangerous turn in my opinion. Right now, its up to you to partake in this effort to stem climate change voluntarily. However, in various states and municipalities, people are drafting up laws and regulations to force you to pay. These will come in the form of taxes and increase in the cost of goods you purchase. Everyone must pay taxes, if you don't you will goto prison, nobody debates that, its the law and you must follow the law. So as soon as law is enacted that says you must now pay so much a month or per year, to pay for your carbon debt, whether or not you even believed this climte change garbage, you will be paying for it. Chances are, your taxes will just increase and if you aren't paying close enough attention you won't even know why, but I guarantee somewhere in the bill, there will be a new percentage taken to cover some 'green' movement, or global warming this or climate change that. Also, since the government will step in, they will increase taxes and fees across the board, every single product being produced creates a certain amount of carbon dioxide after all, its the main by-product of work essentially, so if work is being done, the world is essentially dying, according to the fanatics.
I am not painting a conspiracy theory situation, or giving you a 'what might happen' scenario. This is in fact actually happening across the country. Just pay attention to various 'green' programs in your city or state, you'll definitly see or hear something within the week about a new policy or some new green campaign or something along those lines, and if its a politician talking about it, you and I are paying for it.
I've stated it before, I think good things can come of government policies, better products and technological etc, but when taxes are being imposed based on a theory, I have a serious problem with it, and so should you. It really should be called the theory of climate change, or the climate change theory, because that's what it is, nobody can concretely say whether its really happening or not and until we know for sure, I think we should simply continue moving along as we are.
Many fanatics will have you believe that the world is a destitute place full of garbage and disease etc. That may be true, as I haven't visited most of the world, only the country I live in, but I can honestly say my country is very very clean. I don't have issues with breathing, I have bright sunny days almost every day, I don't have a problem with smog or pollution, the water around me is very clean, I live in a fairly pristine environment, and I'm sure many early ecological policies have ensured its stayed that way, great. Therefore I don't see any harm in letting those policies continue, and stemming these climate change ones until we know for sure what if anything is really going on. Some will say that inaction will surely be our demise, I'm not suggest inaction, we are doing quite a bit and have been for some time, lets leave that in place and move on with more important issues than this as of now, made up one that is being subverted into a way to make money.
The fact is, we know in the past many millions of years ago, our planet was extremely hot, at certain points its gone through ice ages, and as of yet nobody seems to be able to explain why it happend, just that it did. At the same time, nobody lived during these time period, life existed, but not humans. If humans weren't around for the greatest point of heat and cold in this world, I think it's completely absurd that we should now blame ourselves for what may or may not be anything at all.
Let me hit the truely evil aspect of what I believe is also going on with regards to climate change. I think its just part of a larger fanatical ecology movement of people who truly and honestly believe that the earth is a living breathing entity, or god. These people normally call the earth Gaia, and treat it with the reverence of a god (Please to link #2). Many of these people claim not to believe in a god, they are either atheist or just don't believe in anything imparticular. However at the same time, they will treat the earth as the most holy thing in the world, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with protecting the earth and caring for it, but these people would protect the earth at the cost of just about anything else, such as their own money and perhaps lives. Where things become evil I think, is when fanatical ecologist type folks, will actually go out and do real harm to others to try and push their views on them. There have been some incidents of mass vandalism, in which car dealerhips are vandalized, cars are ruined and broken, clearly by green type groups or people, just because they think vehicle emissions ruin the world. This is evil. I don't doubt that in time very extreme versions of these fanatics will possibly look to murder as a way to solve problems, who really knows what they may do, when poeple think that extremely to vandalize cars and such, anything is possible, so there is clearly an ugly and evil intention somewhere in the fanatical culture, please see linke #1 for just a sample of one extreme take on this climate change taken to one such extreme, its amusing and disturbing at the same time, but it is real.
One last thing I will insert here, apparently a video of a high school teacher has been circulating around the internet. He basically helps break the climate change issue into a set of boolean logic for every day people, which is good advice. He basically says, you can ignore the problem, and do nothing, which is really bad if your wrong obviously. You can ignore it, but do something, at least it won't be nearly as bad. You can agree with it and do nothing, which is probalby just stupid, or you can agree with it and do something about it, which is great if you agree with something. This is all fine and well, and frankly good advice in general on basic descision making skills. However, I want to leave with just one last thought and it deals heavily with the way that man approached the climate change issue.
The abortion issue. You might be wondering what does that have to do with climate change, but it does a deep level have a lot to do with it, there's an overarching line of thought that travels across many different modern issues. I won't go into it now as I would quadruple the size of this article, but in time I'll try to piece it all together.
With the abortion issue, we are talking about human lives at the core. It's not women's rights, its the lives of humans. I think applying the the high school teachers same points to the abortion issue is critical to understanding the situation. Pro-lifers, say abortion is murder or infanticide, while pro-choicers, say its not a baby until its born, so really your just killing skin cells, or osmething to that effect. Some people seem to believe its a baby at 3 months but not 2, or 8 months but not 7, whatever the case may be, we all agree at some point the thing becomes something worth protecting right? Okay great. So... you can choose to ignore agree with abortion but od not do it yourself, you just think people have the right to destroy biomass, okay. You can ignore it but choose to do it, so you roughly the same thing, you don't see a problem but you partake in the action. You can disagree with it and do nothing (in this case, you think life is viable at any point and should be protect but wont' do anything to protect it yourself.). Lastly, you disagree with it and will do something about it (you believe life should be protected and do your best to ensure as little of this legal action actually occurs by some safe method.
If you take that into account, what if you agree with abortion, but what if you in the end are wrong? If you are wrong, this is a lot more serious than climate change issue, if you are wrong now, then you basically supported murdering of infants all along. However if you disagree with abortion and believe it is the murder of infants, and in the end it turns out you are wrong, and in fact life doens't begin till babies are physically born, then whats the worst harm that was done? So you were wrong, but at least you aired on the side of life and protection. Whereas if you agree and your wrong.... that's a pretty greviously bad decision, and you supportted the murder of babies at least for some time in your life, cause you didn't aire on the side of caution.
When it comes down to it, I think there are far bigger problems in the world right now that global warming or climate change. I'm not saying ignore those issues, but rather, don't escalate it to top priority like it is right now, getting the UN involved and imposing sanctions and regulations all ove the place and building new taxes and fines on the population, I think we are panicking and we shouldn't be, regardless if you agree or disagree, its jut not that big of a deal and likely won't be for a very long time.
Abortion, child abuse, murder, rape, warfare, cancer, diabetes, leukemia, drugs, etc. There's far more productive things to do with your time than worrying about and preparing for an end of day scenario. We will all die at some point, so make the best of the time you do have. If you do agree with global warming, then fine, do your part if it makes you feel better, but don't impose it on everyone else till you know for a fact there's a serious reason for concern, until then, leave me out of it, I've stated my case.
