I've decided for the greater goal of evolving and continuing the great original game that Master of Magic was to release the Master of Magic .NET project to the open-source community and release it under the GNU v3 license. Please see the Development Log for further details
Welcome! This is the home for a personal project to re-create an old game published in 1993 called Master of Magic, chances are if your visiting this page, you are aware or have played the game. If you have not, you can obtain a legally free copy at The Home of the Underdogs, a great site that houses a ton of abandonware titles. They are very strict in what they allow to be downloaded so as to follow all applicable laws, at least to the best of my knowledge.
There are currently a small handful of projects around the world related to Master of Magic, however to the best of my knowledge this is the only one attempting to re-create the original game with personal extensions using a home-brewed 3D game engine (actually I have learned about one: Xarvh). I believe most other projects are focused around modding the original game to some degree. A couple other projects have been in development in the last few years but far as I can tell they have all been abandoned or lost in some way. There is a site dedicated to getting a 'Master of Magic 2' created by a professional developer as well, though as of this point in time, nothing of any real substance has occurred with regards to this, as much as most of us keep hoping. In the mean time, this is my personal attempt to create that so called 'Master of Magic 2' and regardless if the official product gets created or not, I fully intend to keep working on this as long as the interest continues.
